Alan J. Redd, et al. 2002. Forensic value of 14 novel STRs on the human Y chromosome. Forensic Science International, Vol 130, Issues 2-3, 4 December 2002, Pages 97-111. Article characterizes 14 STRs on the Y chromosome, typing them in two samples, a globally diverse panel, and individuals from a European-American population. The Y-STRs included DYS449, DYS453, DYS454, DYS455, DYS456, DYS458, DYS459, DYS464, DYS446, DYS447, DYS450, DYS452, DYS463, DYS448). These Y-STRs improved the resolution of paternal lineages, above the level obtained with commonly used Y-STRs, in the European-American population.
